Video game giant Atlus streamed a trailer for Shin Megami Tensei V on Wednesday 29th September and we’re here for it! The newest instalment of the Megami Tensei franchise is slated for release this November and has made announcements for its English Dub cast as well!
The Megami Tensei franchise actually began as early as the 1980s and has been a prominent name n the industry but is now as extreme as the Final Fantasy series. One of the franchise’s most popular releases, Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne shot up the popularity of these games.
Interestingly, a spin-off of the Megami Tensei franchise has actually become wildly popular and has its own fanbase internationally as well as in Japan – The Persona Series! This year also invited a lot of speculation about a possible return of the Persona franchise as well in the form of Persona 6.

What is Shin Megami Tensei 5 About?
Much like the Persona series that is a spin-off of this franchise, the game allows the player to take on the role of a high school student investigating the appearance of demons in a tunnel in a kind of post-apocalyptic city of Tokyo after being removed from modern Tokyo. This new city is named Da’At The game weighs in mechanics from its predecessors including Shin Megami Tensei IV’s demon-raising gameplay.
The player and other friendly characters are placed in a world where angels and demons are at war. The main characters are saved by a being called Aogami. They are soon introduced to Bethel Japan, an organization that works to keep the humans away and safe from the war between angels and demons. The main character gets to keep his power as the Nahobino while his friends are introduced to a program that lets them summon demons.
Upon return to their own Tokyo, the group realizes that the war has started filtering into their world. The Nahobino ascends to Godhood but is now put in a spot to decide what to save and how.
The official website of the SMT V gameplay has added a synopsis that reads:
From whatever information is gathered it appears that Shin Megami Tensei V feels like a remake of Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD English version released earlier this year. Maybe Nocturne’s gameplay, graphics, the game style has some resemblance with the upcoming SMT V.
SMT players who have had a chance to test SMT V recently refute that the game has no performance lag on Switch hardware. However, it is dubbed to be the best in the SMT series retaining the basic elements of its predecessors.
