Fullmetal Alchemist celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2021. March 2022 saw the announcement for the two new Fullmetal Alchemist Live Action 2 movies that will follow the first live-action movie released in 2017. Before the live-action, there were two animated movies as well – Fullmetal Alchemist: The Conqueror of Shambala and Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos.
The legendary manga series by Hiromu Arakawa was serialized in Square Enix’s Monthly Shonen Gangan and consists of 27 volumes that have sold over 50 million copies worldwide, making it one of the bestselling manga of all time.
With the first anime series titled Fullmetal Alchemist released in 2003 with 51 episodes, and the renewed Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood released in 2009, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is added as one of the best shows of all time on IMDb with 9.1/10 and 9.2/10 on My Anime List. Mind you, not just anime but the best shows of all time.
New Fullmetal Alchemist Live Action 2 Movies- Avenger Scar and Last Transmutation
Warner Bros Japan again released a new trailer for Fullmetal Alchemist: The Avenger’s Scar. The trailer in addition to giving more details of the upcoming sequel also introduced its fans to a good number of new characters almost waiting to jump from the pages of the manga.
What is Fullmetal Alchemist About?
Fullmetal Alchemist follows the journey of the Elric brothers as they try to find a way to get their bodies back. Committing the one taboo in alchemy, the brothers perform human transmutation to revive their deceased mother. The transmutation fails and Edward loses a limb while Alphonse loses his entire body. Edward fixes his soul on a suit of armour in exchange for another limb.
In time, Edward is offered the position of State Alchemist, which basically makes him a dog of the military. He uses their resources to look for the philosopher’s stone in order to get their bodies back. With his metal arm and leg, he is given the title of Fullmetal Alchemist. Ed and Al meet many people along the way and learn of something horrifying beyond comprehension that seems to be brewing in their country of Amestris.
Fullmetal Alchemist Live Action Movie (2017)
The first announcement of the movie in 2017 was met with mixed reviews which sustained themselves even after its release. Live-action adaptations of anime movies are rarely met with a positive response, one of the notable exceptions being Rurouni Kenshin. One of the notable things about Fullmetal Alchemist live-action is that Alphonse in his suit of armour was created completely through CGI.
The plot for the movies loosely follows the manga and the famous anime adaptation Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (2009). The first live-action comes to a close after the death of Lust and Envy’s escape but has somehow introduced the mannequin soldiers very early. Regardless, the actual timeline should follow somewhere after Sho Tucker’s death in the manga/anime. Notably, Edward Elric is aged up in the movies. He is depicted as 20 in the movies while he is 15 in the manga/anime series.
New Fullmetal Alchemist Live Action Movies- Avenger Scar and Last Transmutation
The Upcoming Fullmetal Alchemist Live-Action will first cover Scar’s revenge along with Edward’s trip to The Northern Wall of Briggs as well as the ruins of Xerxes. The upcoming movie will introduce a lot of important characters including Olivier Mira Armstrong, Izumi and Sig Curtis, The Briggs Army and the other Homunculi.
The Last Transmutation will possibly cover the Promised Day and most of the main story that revolves around Father and Hohenheim. The Last Transmutation is a direct reference to the end of the story of Fullmetal Alchemist which also means that presumably, this will be the last release in the series of live-action movies.
When Will the New Fullmetal Alchemist Live Action 2 Movies Release?
The theatre release for both movies has already received a release date! Fullmetal Alchemist: Final Chapter – The Avenger Scar will release on Friday, May 20th 2022.
It will be followed by Fullmetal Alchemist: Final Chapter – The Last Transmutation which will release on Friday, June 24th 2022. The official posters for the two movies have also been dropped!

I think about how attractive that is, despite the fact that it may seem ugly.“
Speaking of the time the makeup artists took on set, Mackenyu Arata said, “It took them about 2 hours to do my makeup every day. Scar is ‘scar’ in English. Without that, I could never be Scar. Even time for makeup is a bad thing. important moment to get into character. “
