This year’s anime releases have already set a standard for 2023. But the upcoming anime calendar is proving to live up to those expectations. My Home Hero has been green-lit for an anime adaptation and we have a lot of reasons to be hyped about the anime release.
The manga for the series is written by Naoki Yamakawa and illustrated by Masashi Asaki. It was first serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Young Magazine in 2017. The upcoming anime adaptation scheduled to release is being produced by Tezuka Productions, established by the legendary Osamu Tezuka.

What is My Home Hero About?
The story begins with an ordinary middle-aged salaryman named Tetsuo Tosu who seems to lead a rather uneventful life. He has a family with a wife and a daughter and for the most part, everything seems to be going well. His daughter Reika is a college student and seems to be a bit of a rebel. Tetsuo finds out that his daughter’s boyfriend is abusive towards her. Trying to protect her from him, he discovers Nobuto’s connections with a crime syndicate and an elaborate plan to extort money from Reika’s rich grandparents.
Enraged by his actions overcome by protective feelings for Reika, Tetsuo confronts Nobuto and ends up killing him. He disposes of the body with his wife Kasen’s help. The crime syndicate notices Nobuto’s absence and begins investigating the cause which puts Tetsuo and his wife in a dangerous situation. They work together to keep their daughter safe and away from the reach of the syndicate.
When Will My Home Hero Be Released?
My Home Hero has been slated for a Spring 2023 release as per the information released on the official website! The teaser for the anime has confirmed an April release for the anticipated anime adaptation of this series. The number of episodes in the series is yet to be confirmed. The show could go for a single cour release with 12-14 episodes which would be more favorable as the manga is still ongoing.
Assuming that the adaptation will stay faithful to the manga, there is potential for three seasons to be released over the years. The manga began its final arc in June and therefore avoiding a split cour is suggested at the moment. The production pipeline has not reported major obstacles in making the anime. A more specific release date will be announced once the Spring 2023 anime season kicks in.
Where can I Watch My Home Hero?
The TV broadcast schedule for My Home Hero will only be available a few months before the premiere of the series. As for streaming platforms, it is expected that Crunchyroll or another service will pick up the anime. The bets are mostly on Crunchyroll’s Spring List. The show is also likely to get an English Dub once the premiere is in order.

Tezuka Studios is credited with the anime’s production. Takahashi Kamei is directing the series, and Kohei Kiyasu is the script supervisor and also a writer for the anime. Masatsune Noguchi is in charge of character design, Yukio Abe is the Art Director, Kanji Kawai is the music composer, Takumi Ito is the sound director and Kiyotaka Kawa works with sound design. Q. Is My Home Hero over?
A. The manga for My Home Hero is currently ongoing. There are 17 volumes of the manga that have been released as of February 2022. The series entered its final arc recently and took a time skip after the end of the second part. The manga is currently in its climax but still has a long way to go. The manga could only end sometime in 2023 or 2024 which leaves enough room for pacing the anime adaptation to stay true to the source.
As for the anime, the announcement of the adaptation came in only in September 2022 and the premiere for the apparent first season is in April 2023. It is very likely that there will be a couple more seasons before the end of the anime adaptation.
Q. Why should I watch My Home Hero?
A. 2022 has seen the return of a lot of titles that have been silent for years. Bleach, Mobile Suit Gundam and The Devil is a Part-Timer are some of the anime series returning after a huge hiatus. My Home Hero may not be in the same league as maybe Bleach or MSG, but having a plot driven by parental figures and middle-aged characters is always fresh in anime.
There are not a lot of series that shift focus from the youth. To add to it, most of those series often introduce supernatural powers. My Home Hero does this very well in the manga. The crime suspense series has built up a fanbase and has a good rating of 7.9/10 on My Anime List.
The series is written by Naoki Yamakawa who also created the popular series I’m Standing on a Million Lives which was also published in Kodansha Comics and received an anime adaptation in 2020.
