A very interesting addition to the Fall 2022 calendar just dropped! Cyberpunk: Edgerunners has received its first official trailer among the newly announced lineup. Netflix has a series of anime releases scheduled for the rest of the year and we’re here for it! As per the updates on IMDb, “filming” commenced on 7th April 2021, and concluded by 10th September 2021. Being an animated series, dubbing in different languages and other animation effects are in progress.
As the story is based in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, this series does not have a manga or a comic book source. CD Projekt RED released Cyberpunk 2077 in 2020 as an open-world role-playing game, the only major game released by the developers after the Witcher franchise.

What is Cyberpunk 2077 About?
Before diving into the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime, it is better to know the game’s setting. The game takes place in Night City, a megacity of sorts located in California, USA. The intention to stay true to the title of the game has made Night City an accurate cyberpunk dystopia, ruled by corporations and riddled with very drastic social differences. Most of the people living in the city dwindle down to the poorer pockets and are subject to violence and authoritarian control.
The Psycho Squad keeps populous in check and the Trauma Team caters to medical needs, also owing to the very apparent lawlessness in the city with all the power resting with the rich. V, a mercenary outlaw, decides the life path that will end in certain futures based on decisions made through the game. Hired to acquire a certain chip, V’s mission goes sideways which leaves him in a near-death situation. He inserts the biochip into his cyber ware and finds himself haunted by a punk mercenary who passed away. V realizes that the chip needs to be removed and sets out to seek those who can help save him.
What will Cyberpunk: Edgerunners be About?
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is going to be a standalone animated series that will be explored in Night City itself. A young kid in the Night City who does not have anything but himself tries to survive on the streets. To survive in the brutal playground that is Night City, he becomes the one known as Cyberpunk, a mercenary outlaw.

When Will Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Release?
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will be a part of the Fall 2022 anime calendar! Netflix has confirmed a September 2022 release but has not specified a release date yet. The anime will have 10 episodes based on an original story. The first poster and main trailer for the anime have already been released!
It is speculated that the Cyberpunk Edgerunners Netflix release date should fall on the 4th or 5th Thursday of September 2022. It translates to the 22nd or 29th of September 2022.
The speculations are almost close. A teaser trailer released by end of August, one can see the final tagline revealing Cyberpunk: Edgerunners release on Netflix on September 13.

The anime will be released as a Netflix exclusive and will only be available on this streaming platform. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Characters, Cast and Staff
The characters or voice actors that will appear in the anime are yet to be revealed. The poster for the anime has revealed the character designs for the two main characters on the show. The official trailer only offers a snippet of some of the characters that will be seen in the anime, along with the anime stylization of Night City.
Studio Trigger, known for Kill la Kill, Little Witch Academy and BNA among others, is credited with animation for the upcoming series. Rafal Jaki is the showrunner and an executive producer alongside Taiki Sakurai, Dylan Thomas and Yoshiki Usa. Saya Elder, Satoru Homma and Bartosz Sztybor are credited as producers for the show.
Hiroyuki Imaishi is the director of the anime. Yoh Yoshinari is the character designer as well as the animation director, and Yuta Kaneko and Yusuke Yoshigaki are assistant character designers. Masahiko Otsuka and Yoshiki Usa are the scriptwriters, Akira Yamaoka is the music composer and Hiromi Wakabayashi is the creative director. Hiroyuki Kaneko is the assistant director of the anime.
