About the Death Note Manga
The supernatural series is regarded as one of the best of all time. This consensus was solidified after the anime adaptation for the series was released in 2006 in Shonen Jump and skyrocketed into immortality. The manga had a rather short run from 2003 to 2006 with only 12 volumes released. The Death Note anime adaptation was released with 37 episodes and has since received one-shots and special releases in the Jump Comics.
The possibility of reviving Light Yagami, Misa and the others from the original series stands low, but one of them seems to be coming back in 2022.
Death Note Short Stories
While only recently confirmed at the New York Comic Con, Death Note will be returning with a short story compilation consisting of five one-shots and a self-contained four panel-comic that was previously published in Death Note. The five one-shots follow the events in the world after the demise of Light Yagami but still sees Ryuk from time to time.
Viz media has made the announcement for the manga release hinting at the English version of the release being taken up by them. The Japanese release should remain with Shueisha’s Sump Comics.
A Summer 2022 release was confirmed by Viz Media’s Official Twitter on October 10th 2021.
