Perhaps one of the best anime of all time, Fullmetal Alchemist will be returning for a 20th Anniversary Special Project and we cannot wait. The legendary manga series by Hiromu Arakawa was serialized in Square Enix’s Monthly Shonen Gangan and consists of 27 volumes that have sold over 50 million copies worldwide, making it one of the bestselling manga of all time.
The return of Fullmetal Alchemist is surreal. With the first anime series titled Fullmetal Alchemist releasing in 2003 with 51 episodes, and the renewed Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood releasing in 2009, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is added as one of the best shows of all time on IMDb with 9.1/10 and 9.2/10 on My Anime List. Mind you, not just anime but the best shows of all time.
The news of Fullmetal Alchemist returning is real! The creator of the series Hiromu Arakawa was recently present at an interview, congratulating Attack on Titan for its completion and also mentioned she will be revealing a new project very soon.
The New Project for Fullmetal Alchemist will be released on July 12 2021 to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the manga’s release. While we do not know much right now, fans are anticipating a continuation of Edward and Alphonse Elric’s journey after the incidents of the manga. Fans are apprehensive of any changes made to the existing canon that has been established by Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, the 2009 anime which remained true to the manga.
Fullmetal Alchemist also released two films, Fullmetal Alchemist: The Conqueror of Shambala and Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos. While both these stories are not present in the manga as such, they have received approval from the fans. At the moment we can only anticipate out of excitement and hype the return of the series.
