Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans was released in 2015 with its first season. The second season of the anime followed soon after in 2016. Since Gundam has many different timelines in which its stories are set, Gundam IBO also belongs in a timeline called the Post-Disaster timeline. The story is set 300 years after an event called the Calamity War.
The Earth and its colonies share a turbulent relationship. The condition of the inhabitants of Mars and their subhuman stature sparks conflict and a possible revolution at hand. Kudelia Aina Berstein goes ahead to be termed the maiden of the revolution. Coming from an aristocratic family, Kudelia’s world shifts when she meets Tekkadan, a group of children who managed to free themselves from being forced to labour for a living under Chryse Guard Security’s Third Military Division.
As Tekkadan, Orga Itsuka, Mikazuki Augusundertake a mission to escort Kudelia to Earth and foresee the liberation of Mars against the wishes of the forces of earth and Gjallarhorn.

Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans: Urðr-Hunt is set between Season 1 and Season 2 of Gundam IBO. The escalation of conflict between Gjallarhorn and Arbrau Corporation comes to an end with the might of Tekkadan in the year P. D. 323. The word of Tekkadan’s exploits reaches Wistario Afam, the pilot of Gundam Hajiroboshi, in the colony of Radonista near Venus. The area competed with Mars for the stature of a development area with economic value.
A colony is now just a place for criminals to be penalised, an area outside law and order. Wistario dreams to raise the living conditions of his home and comes across a girl who claims she wants to be the guide to the Urðr-Hunt.

Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans: Urðr-Hunt is debuting as a part of the nine-part compilation made for the Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans special edition premiere on April 5th. The second Gundam Conference held in September 2021 announced that Gundam IBO will be getting a special edition release in Spring 2022. The release will be 9 episodes long and will also include the content that will act as a bridge to Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans: Urðr-Hunt.
The series was released on April 5th 2022, coinciding with the game, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans G. This mini release of IBO sets up Urðr-Hunt and airs on MBS, Kyoto TV and Tokyo MX. The Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans: Urðr-Hunt anime will be based on elements of the game as well as the anime.

As of a very recent update, Rina Ikoma has confirmed her role as Wistario Afam on Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans: Urðr-Hunt. The staff at Sunrise Studios will remain more or less the same.
Gundam IBO’s director Tatsuyuki Nagai will be returning for Urðr-Hunt, Yu Ito and Michinori Chiba are the character designers. Mechanical designers for the anime include Naohiro Washio, Kanetake Ebikawa, Ippei Gyōbu, Kenji Teraokaa and Tamotsu Shinohara, Hajime Kamishoda is the script supervisor, Masaru Yokoyama is the music composer and Kusanagi is the returning Art Studio.
