Soon after the end of Season 1, expectations for the release of Heaven Official’s Blessing Season 2 have already built up. The series first aired in October 2020 and ended its first run in February 2021. Heaven Offical’s Blessing is a Chinese Novel by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu and has a dongua (a Chinese animation adaptation) by the same name. It was also serialized into 244 chapters on Jingjiang Literature city and further received a manhwa adaptation that is published by Bilibili.
A live-action for the series is also expected to begin production in 2021! The film will be directed by Chen Jialin.
The series has a dongua as well as a Japanese dubbed version. With the end of Season 1, Heaven Official’s Blessing Season 2 seems to be on the cards. The series has a rating of 8.4/10 on IMDB and 8.37/10 on MyAnimeList. The question is – when are we getting a second season?
What is Heaven Official’s Blessing About?
The series is heavily based in the fantasy genre which creates the setting for gods and kingdoms. Adding a historical element, the story begins 800 years ago in the Kingdom of Xianie. Prince Xie Lian is the crown Prince of the kingdom and is loved by all his people. At the age of 17, word of his kindness and selfless nature towards the people of his kingdom and reached far. He proceeds to ascend to the heavens to serve as a martial God.
The events thereafter don’t seem to be in his favor. Slighted and humiliated consistently because of misfortune following him, he is banished twice and loses the affection and respect of his people as well. His temples are destroyed and Xie Lian makes an attempt to ascend for the third time.
The story also incorporates some elements of horror or gore in its narration. The ghost king Hua Cheng and Xie Lian eventually meet and the former takes an interest in him and grows quite fond. He isn’t bothered by the misfortune following the Prince but rather is concerned with keeping him safe.
The series is a BL (boys love) story that corresponds to the Japanese shonen-ai genre. With its beautiful aesthetics and storyline, Heaven Official’s Blessing is set in a world where the line between mortals and Gods is blurred. With 11 episodes and a special release, Heaven Official’s Blessing Season 2 should definitely be a release to watch out for!

Heaven Official’s Blessing Season 2 Plot
The first season contained 11 episodes and one special episode. The season ends having adapted 29 chapters of the novel. Needless to say, with 244 chapters, there is enough source material to adapt a few more seasons. Also considering only 11 episodes were made, the adaptation and number of episodes per season could also be amped up.
The finale of season 1 ends with the revelation of San Liang’s identity as Hua Cheng even though it was quite evident. Continuing what began 800 years ago, Xie Lian and Hua Cheng are about to begin a relationship that transcends the realms and lifetimes.
Season 2 is expected to pick from after the events of their meeting and dinner and the mystery of the sandstorm. The show is known to add slight changes to the order of events, hence there is a possibility that the next story event might play out a bit differently than the novels. The Ban Yue arc has been covered in Season 1. Heaven Official’s Blessing Season 2 is likely to continue adaptation from Chapter 30 of the novel, which corresponds to the Ghost City Arc.
If the second season is paced the same way, it will complete the Ghost City Arc chapter and the Fang Xin Goushi Arc, completing Book 1 one the novels. If however, Heaven Official’s Blessing Season 2 increases its episode count for the season to above 20, all of Book 2 can also be adapted.
Heaven Official’s Blessing Season 2 Release Date
A confirmed release date for Heaven Official’s Blessing Season 2 is yet to come. With the previous season ending in January-February 2021, the next season does not seem to be coming this very year. An official announcement of renewal can clarify the expected dates for release but rest assured, with the kind of fanbase the show has acquired, we are very likely to see the return of the Prince and the Ghost King.
We do have a few speculations though. Assuming production announcements are made in the upcoming months and going by the anime calendar, the Heaven Official’s Blessing Season 2 could be coming in Spring 2022 at the earliest. If that slate is missed, the next possible window would be Summer 2022. Here’s to hoping official announcements are made soon!
Where Can You Watch Heaven Official’s Blessing Season 2?
Season one of the series is streaming on Funimation and has also been picked up by Netflix! With the kind of response Season 1 has received, Heaven Official’s Blessing Season 2 is likely to release on the same platforms once the official announcement for the renewal of season 2 is made.
The Japanese dubbed version is also available on these platforms. As for the English Dub, Funimation tweeted in November 2020 that the series will be getting an English Dub in 2021!

While we don’t have confirmed news yet, the main cast for Heaven Official’s Blessing is likely to continue into Season 2:
