Created by Yuki Kawaguchi, Hunter’s Guild Red Hood was the winner of the 14th Gold Future Cup rookie manga competition. One of the eye-catching elements of the manga is the use of the student and mentor relationship that may be flourishing between the protagonist Velou and the Hunter Grimm. The relationship between them seems to be a shadow of All Might and Izuku Midoriya from the initial days of My Hero Academia.
What is Hunters Guild Red Hood about?
The premise of Hunters Guild Red Hood brings us the protagonist Velou, a young boy who wishes to protect his village from the attacks of werewolves. Being an ordinary human, there is not much Velou can actually do. The head of the village needs to resort to the Hunter’s Guild and avail of their services to protect their home.
An attack of the werewolves pushes Velou and a rather interesting member of the guild named Grimm to work together to defeat them. After the threat has passed, Grimm expresses interest in Velou and his abilities, stating that he possesses a talent that can be used. Velou is rathe apprehensive of the Hunter’s Guild abut from the looks of it, Grimm and Velou are about to embark on a journey that will change a lot of things in this tale. The manga currently has a rating of 7.2/10 on My Anime List.
Viz Media has acquired the license for the manga. The first three chapters of the Hunters Guild Red Hood manga are available for readers for free online on Viz ! With a mentor and apprentice relationship in the works, will this Shonen Jump title become as celebrated as My Hero Academia?
