The excitement for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 anime is real! It has not been officially renewed through Jujutsu Kaisen ended Season 1 with the tagline “To be continued”. Considered to be the best Shonen anime that possibly can be made, Jujutsu Kaisen is guaranteed to make a comeback with a new season. It is only a matter of some time before MAPPA makes revelations.
Jujutsu Kaisen was first serialized in the Weekly Shonen Jump in 2018, received another volume titled Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 0 in 2019, and was finally released as an anime adaptation in 2020. Needless to say, its popularity blew straight through the roof. The manga series itself has about 50 million copies and has gone ahead to be one of the best-selling manga there is.
Jujutsu Kaisen is one of those anime that you cannot miss nowadays. From a ragingly popular manga series by Gege Akutami, an anime series, an upcoming movie, and a recent mobile role-playing game announcement, it is definitely taking over.
Jujutsu Kaisen has a huge viewership as one of the most popular releases of the past few years. It can be gauged from Jujutsu Kaisen ranking 33 in the best anime category of all time. On platforms, it is rated 8.8/10 on IMDB, 4.8/5 on Crunchyroll, and 8.77/10 on MyAnimeList. The popularity index of the masterpiece is a sufficient reason to get a renewal.
As far as source material is concerned left to be adapted, Season 1 ended in chapter 64 of Volume 8. Jujutsu Kaisen manga has in total 143 published chapters. It can safely be concluded that there is enough material to last for another 2 seasons till Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3.
Now the question is – When Are We Getting Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2?

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Release Date Rumors

The Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1 of the anime was produced by MAPPA, known for popular series like Yuri On Ice!! and Attack on Titan (in its final season). As far as production delays are concerned, the pandemic has hit schedules but there is very little information that is available on the series right now.
It has been confirmed that the Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 release date will be in 2023. It will take at least another 12-16 months for MAPPA studio to divert all its energy to better realize the next narrative arcs.
As of now, nothing concrete has been revealed, except the new season will be produced once again by Studio MAPPA and is currently slated for a release in 2023. Fortunately, fans have found a few clues from the announcement.
The Jujutsu Kaisen 2 will pick up from the events of the first, in which Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, and Nobara Kugisaki were rumored to be getting new promotions for the fights to come.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Release Date
After a wait of a year, there is a confirmed premiere window for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2. We still do not have a date. MAPPA confirmed on 17th December at the Jump Fest ’23 event that the Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Release will happen in July 2023.
The announcement was followed by the release of a new trailer featuring fan-favorite characters Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto. They were seen with new and supporting characters such as Ruji Amanai and Toji Fushiguro.
JJK Season 2 will follow a split cour approach with each one focusing on different arcs from the manga, similar to what anime shows as SPY x FAMILY followed. Check out the PV images from these 2 arcs.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Trailer Countdown
2023 will be a comeback year of Jujutsu Kaisen. Although we have enjoyed 2022 with ” Jujutsu Kaisen 0 “, but the fact of the matter is that nothing beats being able to have weekly dates with one of the most powerful shonen of today. JJK fans are waiting for MAPPA to create magic again and repeat the success of the Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1.
The official website has stirred some news with a promotional image and a countdown timer that will end in the next few days. According to @king_jin_woo, the countdown will come to an end on 25th September, probably a date when the first Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 trailer will be revealed.
After taking a look at the PV one can make a mental note of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 to include more of Gojo and Geto’s past as students. We have seen a bit of it covered in Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and that will continue to take shape in Season 2.
At the moment there has been no further information on the debut date of Season 2 except for the premiere of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 for 2023. JJK fans are waiting for Jump Festa 2023 to be held on December 17 and 18 where JJK 2 will have more details.
Every JJK fan is looking forward to seeing the first Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 trailer. It’s been more than 6 months since the announcement of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 was done. We all know that MAPPA is heavily busy in “Chainsaw Man” and “Jigokuraku” but we do not have any option except to wait for another week to have a glimpse of the Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 trailer.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 episode list
Jujutsu Kaisen Manga is an ongoing series with 15 volumes published. Movie 0 covered Volume 0 and Season 1 of the anime series released in 2020 covered volumes 1-7. This means that ideally, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 should cover the manga from Volume 8 onwards. The anime community generally responds very positively to an adaptation that respects the manga story. Hopefully, this series will continue to do the same.
Season 1 of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime series was released with 24 episodes in 2020. In Japan, it premiered on MBS and TBS at midnight and later on streamed on Crunchyroll for global fans. Each episode played for 24 to 25 minutes. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1 Episode 1 aired in October 2020 and the season finale dropped in on March 27, 2021.
How many episodes will Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 be released? Hopefully, it will follow Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1 with 24 episodes of 25 minutes duration each.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Trailer
With the Jujutsu Kaisen renewal announcement coming just now, it is too early to ask for a trailer for Season 2. MAPPA is likely to make an announcement with a short teaser about Season 2. In the meantime, check out the official Jujutsu Kaisen Movie 0 teaser here!
Jujutsu Kaisen Movie 0 deals with a different character, one that has not appeared in the anime series yet. Yuta Okkotsu is the protagonist in Movie 0, which is essentially a prequel to the main anime series. Jujutsu Kaisen Movie 0 had a theatrical premiere on 24 December 2021 in Japan following its announcement in early 2021. According to a note published on the official website, the movie screening will cease from Sunday, May 29, 2022, after a run of 5 months.
At the end of the movie’s broadcast, a handwritten message by Megumi Ogata, Yuta Okkotsu’s original voice actor is displayed. The voice actor thanked his fans for making the movie a resounding success at the box office and then greeted them with a “goodbye“, hinting at something coming up. Ogata closed the message with a cryptic phrase.
“Can’t wait to see you again as Yuta Okkotsu soon.” It is clearly a hint that Yuta Okkotsu will come in Jujutsu Kaisen 2, currently in production at Studio MAPPA.
Which story arcs and chapters will be adapted in Jujutsu Kaisen 2?
Officially there has been no information on the chapters that Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 will cover. As of now, we are aware that Jujutsu Kaisen 2 Episode 1 will begin its broadcast in July and will continue until December 2023.
If Season 2 of the series was made on similar lines to Season 1 and had 24 or 25 episodes, then the narrative arcs would surely be two. There are few left. The first narrative arc is made up of 15 chapters, while the second has 58 chapters.
If the presumption works right, then the “Hidden Inventory” arc and the “Shibuya Incident” arc will make their way to the screen. From manga, Jujutsu Kaisen 2 would adapt 73 chapters while Season 1 adapted 63 Chapters instead.
Although it sounds remote, but the possibility of Jujutsu Kaisen 2 integrating Movie 0 cannot be excluded, somewhat similar to what Ufotable did in Demon Slayer Season 2.
If Movie 0 gets integrated, Studio MAPPA will need to create a season of 12 episodes with only “Hidden Inventory” as the narrative arc. But this might not go down very well with the fans because it will unnecessarily postpone the key episodes of history.
Another set of valid speculation says that Jujutsu Kaisen 0 has sown important seeds that will bear fruit in Season 2. If the series goes ahead with adapting from Volume 8 onwards, The Jujutsu sorcerers are going to make a comeback, perhaps faced with greater threats. The anime would then be covering Gojo’s Past Arc and the Shibuya Incident Arc. The Season would be particularly interesting with Gojo’s past, with the insanely powerful yet goofy teacher who everyone adores.
