Recently the official Twitter account of Netflix Anime has confirmed the news of Kengan Ashura Season 2 along with a teaser visual. Netflix is currently growing its anime collection and Kengan Ashura is one of its originals. In the teaser visual we see the main character duo from the show; Kazuo Yamashita and Tokita Ohma.
Yabako Sandrovich’s Japanese manga series Kengan Ashura was first adapted into an anime show in 2019 and it was done by Netflix. The first season had 24 episodes in total and the producers split it into two sections at the time of release. The anime series is directed by the talented Seiji Kishi who’s also known for his direction in shows like Classroom of the Elite, Yuki Yuna is a Hero, Radiant, and Angel Beats!
The first 12 episodes of Kengan Ashura were broadcasted in July 2019 and the other 12 episodes were further released in October of the same year. The Covid 19 pandemic might be the reason that the sequel is coming out after a long gap of almost 4 years.
With the recent news of the sequel being produced and ready for release in 2023, worldwide Kengan Ashura fans are thrilled.
Is there a Kengan Ashura Season 2 trailer?
Netflix had earlier teased the fans about the upcoming sequel of Kengan Ashura which is expected to release in 2023 but they are yet to bring out an official trailer.
We can expect Kengan Ashura Season 2 Trailer to drop anytime around the end of 2022 or at the beginning of 2023, but it cannot be promised. But there’s no hiding from the fact that we are running short on patience while eagerly awaiting the arrival of the trailer.

Kengan Ashura Season 2 storyline
The setting of the story reminds us of the Tokugawa period when gladiator arenas existed all around the country. In these areas, the gladiators were hired by rich business owners to fight unarmed.
The plot starts with a 56-year-old man Kazuo Yamashita who is a salaryman of the Nogi group. The viewers are then introduced to another main character named ‘Ashura’ aka Ohma Tokita who is a talented fighter. One night Kazuo witnesses a street fight between Ohma Tokita and another stranger. Ohma’s excellent fighting skills impress the Nogi Group and he gets hired by them.
Kazuo becomes the manager of Ohma Tokita and he successfully defeats his opponents in the arenas one by one. Later he got the attention of big corporate owners of Japan and was invited to the Kengan Annihilation Tournament. During this tournament, Ohma is haunted by his past memories and Kazuo struggles to manage him. The old man also set out to discover the real reason behind the invitation. The series is sealed with fascinating fighting scenes that keep the audience hooked to the screen. Some of Tokita Ohma’s best fights are against Sen, Niko, Raian, and Lihito.
So naturally, devotees are expecting to see more of these fighting scenarios in season 2 of Kengan Ashura. Though the officially published teaser does not reveal much about season 2 we can expect it to follow the manga’s storyline. Season 2 Episode 1 will most probably pick up from where season 1 finished.
When will Kengan Ashura Season 2 release?
Unfortunately, no Kengan Ashura Season 2 release date is revealed yet. In the teaser, Netflix announced that Kengan Ashura season 2 will premiere somewhere in 2023.
Previously Netflix telecasted the Kengan Ashura Season 1 of the show in July 2019 and the second part of the first season in October 2019. So the chances of the sequel being a Summer 2023 or an early Fall 2023 show are high. We are hoping the studio Larx Entertainment will surprise us with the release date soon.

Who are part of Kengan Ashura Season 2 cast and characters lineup?
Since season 1 follows the original manga and its characters it is not surprising that the sequel will also follow suit. Besides the main characters Ohma and Kazuo whom we see in the visual teaser, there are high chances of new additional characters making their debut in this upcoming season.
• Ohma Tokita: Ohma Tokita is the protagonist of Kengan Ashura. He loves to fight. With a head full of dark messy hair and a strong physique, he comes off as a very confident person. In the anime, he’s in his late 20s and possesses a lust for battlefields. While he seems aggressive and short-tempered most of the time we also see him being caring and supportive towards the ones he loves. His capability earns him a position as a fighter of the Nogi Group and a spot in Kengan Annihilation Tournament. In the Kengan matches, Ohma is introduced as ‘Ashura’.
• Kazuo Yamashita: A 56-year-old employee of the Nogi Group who happens to become the manager of Ohma. On-screen he appears with light facial hair and with a pair of worn-out glasses. Meek and afraid Kazuo changes when he’s exposed to Ohma’s lust to fight in Kengan matches. Kazuo and Ohma share an unbreakable bond and Kazuo is also very supportive of Ohma. Kazuo also is crowned as the CEO of Yamashita Trading Co., a shell company of the Nogi Group.
• Hideki Nogi: This gentleman is the CEO of Nogi Group and also the chairman of the Kengan Association. He has trained eyes to notice a fighter’s qualities and he often pushes them to express their talent. He is the one who created the shell company Yamashita Trading Co where Kazuo becomes the CEO and Ohma becomes a representative fighter.
We also have important side characters such as;
Lihito: He was the second opponent of Ohma in the Kengan matches
Kaede Akiyama: He is Hideki Nogi’s assistant and helps Kazuo and Ohma prepare for the tournament.
Jun Sekibayashi: A pro wrestler who is representing a company named Gandai.
