Jujutsu Kaisen Movie 0 (aka JJK0) premiered in 2021 and got a theatrical premiere in the West- North America and Canada on March 18th, 2022. Jujutsu Kaisen becAme one of MAPPA’s most successful releases along with names like Attack on Titan. With speculations laid to rest with the announcement of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, the release of Jujutsu Kaisen prequel “Volume 0” completed the picture.
Fans are being showered with content from the series created by Gege Akutami with the latest one being JJK chapter 193, which is a currently ongoing Manga series serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. Needless to say, the popularity of the series has skyrocketed after its release in 2020 with the anime adaptation by MAPPA. It is rated 7.9/10 on IMDb and 98% on Rotten Tomatoes.

When will Jujutsu Kaisen 0 The Movie release on a digital platform?
In the past, we have seen that the waiting period between an international theatrical release of a super hit anime movie and an OTT streaming release takes about 2-4 months.
For instance, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train took 2 months after its theatrical premiere to drop on streaming platforms. On the other hand, My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission is still waiting for an OTT drop despite getting a theatrical release in the United States in late October 2021.
Assuming that the waiting period between the global theatrical debut and the online streaming premiere is 2-6 months, one can safely assume Jujutsu Kaisen 0 The Movie release window to fall between May 18th and September 18th, 2022.
We are almost close to it. Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Movie gets a digital release date of 21st September. The date coincides with the “JUJUTSU KAISEN 0” Blu-ray & DVD release happening on September 21, 2022. It includes English subtitles.
Which streaming platform will have Jujutsu Kaisen 0 The Movie digital rights?
During Crunchyroll expo 2022, on 6th August, Crunchyroll confirmed buying the streaming rights for the blockbuster hit Jujutsu Kaisen 0 The Movie. Earlier, Crunchyroll appeared to be the favorite to acquire the digital streaming rights for Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Crunchyroll in partnership with Funimation was most likely to stream the movie once it left theatres.
@king_jin_woo has also tweeted that the JJK 0 movie simulcast version is coming to Crunchyroll on Friday, 23rd September 2022.

Is Jujutsu Kaisen 0 The Movie coming on Netflix?
Netflix has not announced any plans to acquire digital streaming rights for the movie. But a future possibility cannot be ruled out.
To add to the speculation, neither the production team at MAPPA nor Toho distributors have announced about the streaming platform and a release date when Jujutsu Kaisen 0 will stream in Japan and globally.
It is very unlikely as of now that Jujutsu Kaisen 0 may get a digital debut on platforms such as Amazon Prime or Disney Plus outside Japan and other Asian territories.
What is Jujutsu Kaisen About?
The plot for Jujutsu Kaisen revolves around Jujutsu Sorcerers in a world where Cursed energy emanates from every living being, rising from negative emotions. Yuki Itadori joins the Occult Research Club of his school. The Occult Club members discover a Special Grade Cursed Relic and in their curiosity, end up breaking the seal. Yuji is confronted but Jujutsu Sorcerer Megumi Fushiguro and in what turns out to be a disaster after unsealing a cursed talisman, Yuji swallows the finger of Ryomen Sukuna, The King of Curses and one of the most terrifying antagonists in the show.
Satoru Gojo, a Jujutsu Sorcerer and also Megumi’s teacher, sets out to help finally bring an end to the terror of Sukuna and keep Yuji alive till Sukuna is killed. The season ended with a “To Be Continued”, breaking in speculations about the release and production of Season 2.
Season 1 of the anime adaptation began its run in October 2020 and closed with a total of 24 episodes. In Japan, it premiered on MBS and TBS at midnight and later on streamed on Crunchyroll for global fans. The series has also been picked up for streaming on Netflix which is great news for the fans!

What does Jujutsu Kaisen Prequel “Volume 0” have in store?
The Official site for Jujutsu Kaisen Movie 0 was launched shortly after the final episode of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1 aired on March 24, 2021. The Special Event for Jujutsu Kaisen held on March 28 2021 announced the release of Movie 0. The most curious factor of this film will be the appearance of Yuta Okkotsu, The third-year student at Jujutsu High we all have been hearing about and have only seen snippets of in the main series.
Jujutsu Kaisen Movie 0 will be narrating the story of Yuta Okkotsu and his childhood friend Rika who is afflicted by a curse. Satoru Gojou makes an important appearance in this story too as he tries to help the two kids by having Yuta enroll in Jujutsu High.
Jujutsu Kaisen manga Volume 0 will serve as the source material for Jujutsu Kaisen Movie 0. The Volume consists of only 4 chapters but the length of the volume suggests that the film will be longer than an average ONA episode. The arc covered in the volume, also called the Cursed Child arc, will have Yuta as the main protagonist. The events of the movie take place before the events of the first season of the anime. We will be seeing the return of Yuta Okkotsu in the Shibuya Incident Arc which is expected to be adapted in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2.
The trailer for the movie shows a voice saying that The Night Parade of 100 Demons will be released and a new era will begin. For those unfamiliar, the Night Parade of 100 Demons is a part of Japanese Folklore.

In a recent development, Anime Limited has made a digital release of the JUJUTSU KAISEN 0 movie’s original soundtrack in regions of North America, Europe, and Oceania. It has released all 31 tracks from the Japanese release of the movie. It featured music by Hiroaki Tsutsumi, Yoshimasa Terui, and Alisa Okehazama.
