Chainsaw Man Creator Tatsuki Fujimoto released a special one-shot on July 19th! The 140-page special release is titled ‘Look Back’. While unrelated to the Chainsaw Man story, this release was an ode to the heartbreaking fire that broke out at Kyoto Animation Studios in 2019. Kyoto Animation or KyoAni is one of the legendary animation studios of Japan which became the target of an unfortunate arson attack.
The one-shot ‘Look Back’ is an ode to the ones who lost their lives at the fire at Kyoto Animations. It was released in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ Magazine.

Tatsuki Fujimoto’s manga series was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from December 2018 to December 2020. After its original run, a second part to the manga was announced which will continue in the Shonen Jump+ online publication
Denji is a high school student burdened with his father’s debts that need to be paid off to the yakuza. If that isn’t dangerous enough, the story is set in a world where people’s fears materialize as devils. Denji has a Chainsaw devil dog called Pochita.
A conspiracy by the yakuza results in Denji’s death as he is killed by a devil he was sent to exterminate. By virtue of a contract with Pochita, Denji is brought back to life and merges with Pochita. As a half-devil, Denji is approached by Devil Hunters who ask him to join them to avoid being hunted.
