Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine recently announced that The Promised Neverland and My Hero Academia Manga will be getting one-shots in the upcoming issue. The 33rd and 34th combined issues for this year revealed the next issue will contain a 49-page one-shot and reportedly it will be ‘sci-fi action’ in nature. Titled DC3, it will have a one-shot each from both of the creators of My Hero Academia and Promised Neverland.
Boku no Hero Academia or My Hero Academia Manga is a series by Horikoshi Kohei. The series began in 2014, which soon received an anime adaptation in 2016 that has grown to become immensely popular. The Shonen Jump release has built a huge fanbase as the anime series is currently on its 5th season.
My Hero Academia Manga has currently released 320 chapters and is focusing on Class A trying to stop Deku from trying to do everything on his own. To avoid spoilers, we’ll leave it there. My Hero Academia Movie 3 is also set for release in 2021. Don’t forget to check that out!
The Promised Neverland, however, has a different story. The first season of the anime adaptation was wildly popular but season 2 came up with a lot of issues after deviating from the manga and leaving important parts of the story out. Viewers felt that the pacing was very rushed and failed to do justice to the manga itself. The manga series is rated an 8.25/10 on My Anime List.
Created by Kaiu Shirai and Demizu Posuka, the manga series began in 2016 and completed its run in 2020 with a total of 20 volumes. The series also received a light novel adaptation followed by an anime series consisting of 23 episodes. Even as the manga has ended, apparently, there are upcoming projects for the series, the first of which will be the upcoming one-shot from Jump!
The My Hero Academia Manga One-Shot will be created by Yoko Akiyama! The 17-page one-shot will be focusing on Izuku Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugo and Shouto Todoroki facing off against Endeavour. It is reportedly titled ‘Boku no Hero Academia Tokubetsu Spinoff: Endeavor’s Mission.‘
Both the one-shots will be releasing with the Jump’s August 2nd issue! Let us know how you feel about The Promised Neverland coming back and stay tuned for more updates on your favourite series!
