Sacrificial Princess and King of Beasts has been announced for the 2023 anime calendar and we are here for it! The name sounds like a fairy tale and that’s because it is! The premise of the story follows the classic Beauty and the Beast narrative but with enough differences to make the story interesting.
The manga for the series is written and illustrated by Yu Tomofuji. It was serialized in Hakusensha’s shoujo magazine from 2015 to 2020, ending after 15 volumes. The anime adaptation for Sacrificial Princess and King of Beasts was announced for a 2023 release! The anime has only gotten an official announcement in April 2022 which means that more essential information will be released through the rest of this year.

What is Sacrificial Princess and King of Beasts about?
Sacrificial Princess and King of Beasts manga references classic fairy tale material often and invokes the nostalgia of stories like Beauty and the Beast. A war waged between humans and beasts ended with a difficult agreement. The King of Beasts and Demons, Leonhart, receives sacrifices from the humans to assert his dominion over his kingdom. He consumes human females, almost a hundred of whom he has already eaten.
The 99th sacrifice brought to him is a young human girl named Sariphi who does not seem to be scared of him. Nicknamed Sari, she is said to be the Queen of Beasts and is brought to Leonhart from the kingdom of Ozmargo, where very little human trace remains. Her optimistic self and lack of fear towards any demon or beast make her a curious person, as well as surprise Leonhart. He lets her roam the kingdom freely and thus begins a journey that will potentially change the fate of Ozmargo.

The series has not had any key visual or poster releases till now and we are still waiting on preview trailers and staff details.
When Will Sacrificial Princess and King of Beasts Release?
The series has announced a 2023 release which means that the Spring 2023 or Summer 2023 calendar would be a good time for the anime adaptation to release. Since the manga has 15 volumes, it is likely that the anime will have more than one season, allowing a split-cour release. Each season could have 12-14 episodes that would span across an anime season.
The only recent confirmation is the green signal for the adaptation. The anime production studio is also yet to be revealed! Additional information including opening and ending themes, cast and staff, and teaser trailers will follow in the rest of 2022.
Where Can I Watch Sacrificial Princess and King of Beasts?
There have been no announcements about the TV blocks that will broadcast the anime upon release but the details will be updated once they are shared! Streaming platforms like Crunchyroll and Muse Asia could also pick up the anime for airing as a part of their seasonal line-up.
If Crunchyroll chooses to stream the anime, a Sacrificial Princess and King of Beasts English Dub release could also be on the cards! But this will only be after the release of the Japanese audio anime release.

A new story for the main characters will unfold in the upcoming spin-off that will also be released in the Hana to Yume magazine. To clarify, a side story is already set for release in the magazine on April 26th 2022 in a sister magazine called ‘The Hana to Yume’. The spin-off that has been announced in issue 10/11 will be different from this immediate release.
