Anime fans, rejoice! Although the official announcement is yet to come, it looks like an anime adaptation of Rikito Nakamura and Yukiko Nozawa’s “The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You” is on its way. Don’t believe us?
Here I want to share with you a tweet from SugoiLite leaking this exciting news of an upcoming anime version of this popular manga that has generated a lot of buzz and attention on social media.
Do keep in mind that the news of “The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You” getting an anime adaptation is only a leak. However coming from a reliable source, one can expect an official announcement to happen anytime soon. However, that does not stop us from wondering about its release date. Considering that we are at the beginning of the year, it does not seem unreasonable to me that it could happen this same 2023.
The manga started to publish in 2019 and has 12 volumes released so far which would indicate that there is enough material for at least one season of this crazy harem comedy. As we eagerly await the official announcements or any other information regarding this series’ transition into animation form, let us take a look at what all this fuss is about.
About “The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You”
The synopsis of “The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You” is as follows: Rentaro Aijo finds himself rejected by many girls at different points in his life until he eventually loses hope. However, before giving up entirely, he visits a shrine dedicated to the Love God. It turns out that there was some miscalculation on God’s part, and instead of having just one girlfriend like most people, Rentaro had been blessed with no less than a hundred!
The story then sets out to explore how he deals with his newfound understanding while coming across some interesting characters along the way. From what we have seen so far from various sources related to both manga and the proposed anime, it has become quite clear that this series will be one wild ride for whoever decides to take it.
Fans of harem manga know how the drill goes when hyperbolic numbers like “100” come up in the title, and “The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You” is no exception. It gets away with its premise by sheer energy and self-awareness, as we all know that there’s no way such a story could work if taken seriously. There are already three official girlfriends of our protagonist, each being more colorful than the other, and it certainly looks like plenty more characters are waiting in line down the road.
What makes “The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You” stand out from all these other titles is just how unapologetically wild and hilarious it allows itself to be without taking anything away from what makes harem comedies so much fun. Some may try for realism others prefer mellow pacing—this anime definitely seems strong enough not only in offering an action-packed adventure with an alluring premise but also in keeping its comedy afloat without it being too over the top.
The fact that this series is the “Manga We Want to see Animated 2023” just goes on to show how popular the story has become since its inception.
Interactions were pretty high when SugoiLite announced getting an anime adaptation. And let’s be honest; we can hardly contain our anticipation until official announcements come our way.
