The Case Study of Vanitas Part 2 just confirmed its return in January 2022 and we have every reason to hype! The first cour of the anime aired in Summer 2021 and the wait for its continuation has been ongoing since. The manga series by Jun Mochizuki with the same title has been serialized in Square Enix’s Monthly Gangan Joker since 2015 and currently has 9 compiled volumes.
Vanitas no Karte is set in 19th century Paris and mixes genres like supernatural and steampunk to bring back the concept of charming vampires with bloodlust. The first part of the anime was produced by Studio Bones, best known for My Hero Academia, Bungou Stray Dogs and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.

What is The Case Study of Vanitas About?
Vanitas is a human who claims to be a vampire doctor curing them of the illness that causes them to be predatory and hostile. The Vampire society too is divided between the Vampires of the Blue Moon and the Vampires of the Red Moon. Noe Archiviste is a young vampire who is brought to Paris for his search of the Book of Vanitas which may yet be the cure to his friend. Noe stumbles upon Vanitas, who happens to be named after the first Vampire of the Blue moon and the two set to cure vampires of their bloodlust but meet many enemies standing in their way.
The first Season of the anime spanned 12 episodes and ended with a cliffhanger. The Case Study of Vanitas Part 2 is expected to continue from episode 13.
The Story for The Case Study of Vanitas Part 2
The first cour of the anime adapted the first 4 volumes of the manga completely and ended with the beginning of Volume 5. The story has covered the excursion to Paris Arc all the way to the Catacombs Arc and has set up the Beast of Gevaudan Arc. The anime adaptation for The Case Study of Vanitas has remained more or less faithful to the manga storyline which is good news for the fans.
The Case Study of Vanitas Part 2 will open with an investigation for Gevaudan now that the beast is set to have returned. Noe and Vanitas, having previously been in a difficult situation with Noe’s growing bloodlust, have now set out to resolve the rumours of the phantom.
The second cour of the anime will add another 12-13 episodes to the story and possibly finish the Beast of Gevaudan Arc which ends with the manga chapter 43.
The Case Study of Vanitas Part 2 Release Date
With announcements for January 2022 already in, a specific release date for the release of The Case Study of Vanitas Part 2 has finally been announced! Since the upcoming release will span only a single cour, the run should end in March 2022. The Case Study of Vanitas Part 2 of the anime will air on Friday, January 14, 2022, which will effectively be January 15 at midnight in Japan.
The Case Study of Vanitas Part 2 will be broadcast on BS11, Tokyo MX, Gunma TV and Togichi TV and then subsequently make its way to other channels. Funimation streamed the anime as well as an English Dub for the same. It is likely to also stream the second part of the anime and have the English voice cast return for this cour.
