The Duke of Death and His Maid is a manga series written and illustrated by Koharu Inoue that has been serialized since 2017 on Shogakukan’s Sunday Webry website and is expected to end sometime in 2022. The 15th volume of the manga will be released in June 2022. There are six more chapters expected from the manga before it comes to a close. The first season of the anime was released in 2021.

The Young Duke is cursed with the shadow of death and is exiled from his home as all that he touches, dies. Disowned by his mother, he moves to a manor with his butler Ron and his childhood friend Alice. Alice also lives with him as his maid and keeps him company to keep him from loneliness. She is relentless in her attempts to make the Duke blush and leave him flustered despite knowing that any touch from him would mean instant death.
The Duke becomes more aware of his feelings for Alice as time passes and resolves to break his curse of death. The curse does not let him come in contact with any of his loved ones including Alice. In an attempt to free himself from this isolation, the Duke set out to break the curse that was cast on him at a very young age and perhaps also learns the origin of the witch’s curse that changed his life forever.

The first season of the anime ends with Alice’s gentle confession that she loves the Duke too. The Duke of Death and His Maid Season 2 will begin with somewhat of a fairy tale with the Little Red Riding Hood story.
