It was in August 2020 that Crunchyroll proposed an idea to revolutionize the world of anime by roping in studios to work on animated adaptations based on Webtoon. The initial 5 such shortlisted webtoons were Love Advice from the Great Duke of Hell, Purple Hyacinth, Lookism, Let’s Play, and UnOrdinary.
When will Lookism anime release on Netflix?
The animated adaptation of Lookism is closer to its debut. It is scheduled to premiere on Thursday, December 8, 2022, on Netflix. It is made by Studio Mir of Dota: Dragon’s Blood and The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf fame.
Lookism anime episodes were scheduled to drop on Netflix initially on November 4, 2022. However, due to the recent massacre at the Seoul Halloween party, the landing on the catalog of the streaming entertainment service got canceled and the debut had to be rescheduled.

What is the Lookism Anime plot?
Lookism is a Korean webtoon with tales woven around South Korean society. It is the story of an outcast high school student who lives in a society where outer appearance is more significant. The protagonist is short, stocky, and ugly in looks, due to which he is continually mocked in society.
Suddenly, however, for reasons unknown, he wakes up and gets transformed into an exceptionally beautiful body, tall, agile and muscular. This kicks off the Lookism adventure. The boy lives dual life switching between two diametrically opposite-looking bodies trying to understand the differences between the two opposing worlds, both inside and outside school.

In the Lookism trailer, the protagonist awakens from a long sleep. He is taken aback to find himself in a different body. He gets the ability to switch between his old and new bodies with each coping with life differently every time he falls asleep.
The first few frames of the Lookism trailer take us through the daily life of high school student Daniel Park. We can see him being pestered, mistreated, and bullied by his classmates due to his stocky physical build. With transformation happening to his physical self over sleep, Daniel begins with a personal mission. The goal is to fight against prejudice against people who are different or ugly from the normal.
