WitcherCon 2021 was a virtual event to celebrate everything Witcher. The Witcher fandom has expanded exponentially, beginning with the novels by Andrej Sapkovsky to getting its own video game franchise and a Netflix series. The official website of the event has uploaded a schedule for July 9 to 10. As WitcherCon has concluded, we have highlights for upcoming releases from the Witcher franchise that we cannot wait for! While there’s no Witcher 4 on the cards as of now, the content scheduled for 2021 is nothing less than thrilling!
Witcher 3 Game Upgrade!
Fans had been anticipating an additional DLC release for Witcher 3. The game originally released in 2015 has been the recipient of hundreds of awards and is considered of the best RPGs of all time. The next-gen upgrade for Witcher 3 includes new cover art for the game, new DLCs which will incorporate some elements from the Netflix Witcher series, like Geralt’s armour for platforms including PS5, X Box Series, and PC.
The two expansions for the Witcher 3 game were DLCs titled Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. Both the DLCs as well as the base games are extremely well-received and have received overwhelmingly positive reviews on platforms like Steam. Even though we don’t have new playable storylines for Witcher 3, WitcherCon has assured exciting elements that enhance the gameplay experience including lesser loading time and an updated interface among more!
‘Nightmare of the Wolf’- The Witcher Anime Movie!
Yes, you read that right! The Witcher is getting an anime movie that will be releasing on Netflix in 2021! WitcherCon shared the first look for the film which will not be having Geralt of Rivia, our favorite Witcher from the School of the Wolf. In a thrilling saga, the anime film titled Nightmare of the Wolf will be a tale of Vesemir, Geralt’s teacher and the man closest to being Geralt’s father. This tale of a young Vesemir was brought to life by Studio Mir, a South Korean Animation Studio.
The anime movie ‘Nightmare of the Wolf’ is coming to Netflix on August 23, 2021!
The Witcher Ronin Manga
The Witcher is derived from Polish Folklore and in a pleasant surprise, WitcherCon’s latest announcements revealed an upcoming Witcher Manga! A Kickstarter initiative by CD Projekt RED and Rafal Jaki, The Witcher Ronin will blend Geralt’s history with Japanese Folklore.

New Witcher Merchandise
CD Projekt RED is definitely on a roll. With its existing line of merchandise with figurines of the characters from the game and the ever-popular Witcher’s Medallion of the School of the Wolf. In the WitcherCon announcements, a new range of figurines will be available. Characters like Geralt, Yennefer, Ciri, and Regius will be getting new looks.
For those who haven’t gotten the news, The Witcher has a new comic series released as well! Geralt of Rivia is back with yet another dangerous quest in the second issue of The comic The Witcher: Witch’s Lament. Dark Horse Comics released a mini-series for The Witcher titled The Witcher: Witch’s Lament. The first issue for the comic was released on May 26th 2021 and the second issue was released on June 30.

The Last Wish Illustrated Edition Release
This is where everything began. The first book in the Witcher novel series is titled The Last Wish. The latest enhancement to the Witcher Franchise is WitcherCon’s announcement of an illustrated edition of the Last Wish which is scheduled for release in December 2021. The cover art is created by Tommy Arnold and the book is now open to pre-orders for the US and the UK.
The Last Wish is a collection of shorter stories with Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer of Vengerberg, dear old Dandelion and many other characters. The first season of the Netflix Witcher series was an attempt to adapt this very book. The Witcher and WitcherCon’s Official Twitter pages have provided all the links for pre-orders. Netflix Witcher Season 2 Offical Teaser
After a two-year wait, the Netflix Witcher Series is back with a Season 2! The official Teaser for the season was dropped at WitcherCon and it’s nothing short of an anticipatory wait. The first Season of the Witcher ended with Geralt finally finding Ciri and the end of the war which has Yennefer missing.
Season 2 of The Witcher will focus on Geralt and Ciri travelling to Kaer Morhen, the Wolf School’s stronghold in the snowy mountains of Kaedwin. Ciri needs to train with Geralt to be a witcher, learn about her Elder power and understand the meaning of her and Geralt’s destiny. While Yennefer is awoken by Fringilla Vigo after the war has ended, her fate is still uncertain.
Netflix’s Witcher Season 2 is releasing on December 17, 2021!
