The announcement of a Yuri manga getting a TV anime will be a delight for many Yuri fans. It is because they are aware that their favourite genre gets limited anime titles announcement in comparison to others. Hence, the news about the anime adaptation of Miman’s “Yuri is My Job!” aka “Watashi no Yuri wa Oshigoto Desu!” romance manga is welcome news.“Yuri is My Job!” is of romance cum comedy genre with a slice of life as suggested in its name.
It has been more than a year since “Urasekai Picnic” anime premiered, after which no other Yuri anime has been announced. On 14th May, watayuri-anime.com revealed that “Yuri is My Job!” anime is in production. It also shared the news with the first Yuri is My Job! trailer and a couple of promotional visuals.
The trailer takes its “Yuri is My Job” fans to two well-known seiyuus, the lead characters Hime Shiraki and Mitsuki Yano. The roles are reprised by Yui Ogura as Hime Shiraki, and Sumire Uesaka as Mitsuki Yano. The studio in charge is Passione x Studio Rings, directed by Sanpei Holy of Wasteful Days of High School Girl fame and the character design is done by Taisho Iwasaki. At the moment the rest of the “Yuri is My Job!” cast is not official. The anime is produced by the company Infinite.
In keeping with the theme of the girls’ facades as workers at Café Liebe in “Yuri is My Job,” the production shared two variants of the promotional visual with Hime and Mitsuki.
About “Yuri is My Job!”
“Watashi no Yuri wa Oshigoto Desu!”, a Yuri manga was first published in the Ichijinsha’s Comic Yuri Hime magazine in November 2016. Created by Miman, ten volumes have been published to date by Ichijinsha. Eight of these ten volumes have been officially translated into English by Kodansha.
“a high school girl who deeply cares about her image as a sweet, helpful princess but on the inside only cares about herself. Against her will, Hime gets manipulated into working as a waitress at a place that’s part café, part theater, where all the waitresses pretend to be students at a fictional German all-girls boarding school. Hime finds herself falling for another waitress at the café, who in front of the customers gives Hime love and devotion like she’s never known. There’s just one problem: Behind the scenes, Hime’s crush hates her guts.”
