For a trip to nostalgia, Zatch Bell 2 has timed itself perfectly! Makoto Rainu’s hit series is going to be making a return in March 2022 and we are here for it. The original Zatch Bell TV series was released in 2003 and ended following a 3-year run.
Also known as ‘Kojiki no Gash Bell!!’, the manga series was serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday from 2001 to 2007. While the manga for Zatch Bell spanned 33 volumes, the anime adaptation for the series lasted only 150 episodes and ended before the manga could end. Zatch Bell should be counted as one of the most prominent series in the early 2000s along with the likes of Pokemon, Bakugan, Digimon and more!
The original series is rated 7.5/10 on My Anime List!
What is Zatch Bell About?
Zatch Bell follows the main character of the same name who pairs up with a 14-year old boy named Kiyomaru Takamine on Earth. Kiyomaru is someone who does not care much for anyone and just tries to do his own thing. He’s an ace student with an insufferable ego and does not seem to care. He is stumped by the arrival of Zatch Bell who announces Kiyo as his master in a demon battle royale of his people.
Zatch Bell belongs to a mystical race called Mamodo and aspires to win the tournament that grants a Mamodo the right to become the king of their planet. The adventure-fantasy comedy series follows Zatch and Kiyo as they battle rivals and try to attain the championship while making foes and allies on the way. In each other’s company, Kiyo and Zatch learn values and lessons that were previously insignificant to them.
